HEBREWS 13:5 “… I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (NKJV)
ISAIAH 49:15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.” (NKJV)
The fear of abandonment is one of the greatest fear each man, women and child goes through. Nobody wants to be alone, nobody wants to be abandoned. Some might say “I want no one, I can live all by myself” but reality is that nobody can live all by oneself. Everybody needs their family, friends, and fellow human beings. But, at the same time there is no surety that any of them will walk the walk of life with us till the end. The more we trust in people, they more they fail us; the more we need them, the more they forsake us.
But, here in these verses an important character of God is revealed, He is not someone who abandons. The greatest example of human relationship is that of a mother and her child, a mother loves her child from the core of her heart, she would do anything for her child, give up anything for her child even her life. Yet, we hear and see today that even this great human relationship fails at times; there are mothers who abandon, forsake, ill treat, exploit, manipulate and even some who kill their child. God here assures us that even when the greatest of the great human relationship fails, even when people who are dear to us abandon us, He will never abandon or forsake us, He will never forget us, He will always hold us dear and close to His heart. He wants us to realise that we are not alone but He is with us in every step of our life.
