Psalm 55:22 New International Version (NIV)
22 Cast your cares on the Lord
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken
Imagine you are at a crowded railway station. It isn’t possible to move about in the station without bumping into anyone. Adding to the rush, just think that the wheels on your trolley bag broke. With no one else to help you, you have to carry your luggage through the congested station to the ticketing area.
As you are going to the ticketing area, a man approaches and offers to carry your luggage, but you refuse to take his help. Another person tells you that the elevator would be a better option and points to the elevator area. You are still unwilling to take any advice or help. When you make it to the ticketing area, your arms and back are aching because of the heavy luggage that you were carrying. You happen to spot some luggage carts, but don’t take one of those to relieve your burden.
All of this seem so silly, isn’t it? No one in their right mind would behave like this carrying such a heavy burden when there are options to relieve the burden. Yet many believers in Christ are doing exactly that.
Our Father in heaven has lovingly told us to cast our burden on Him. Yet we sometimes act so foolishly when we try to carry our burden all by ourselves. Today, are you carrying any burden that is too much for you to bear? He never wanted you to carry your burden upon yourself, because you never really can. Why don’t you give it to the Lord in prayer and rest in Him?
