Read: John 16:12-15
All of God’s children are on a wilderness journey on this earth. As we travel on the way to our eternal home, all of us will face lot of choices. There will be situations that tend to confuse and frustrate us. In such circumstances, how can we be sure which way to go?
Jesus promised us that the Holy Spirit will lead and guide us. He said, “When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come” (John 16:13). The Holy Spirit will lead us in the will of God. He never makes any mistake.
Despite this, we may think why we make mistakes. His guidance is always right, but our response may not be always right. Yielding daily to the Lord is necessary for receiving His direction. We cannot expect Him to guide us in one area when we may be tolerating or continuing in sin in another area of our life. Sin has the ability to mislead us and thereby we will miss God’s direction in our lives.
When a decision appears to be unclear, we can ask simple questions. What would Jesus do in this situation? Will Christ be glorified in this choice? Can I do this for the glory of God? If any answer is no, then do not follow that path or take that decision. The Holy Spirit is not guiding you there. The Holy Spirit will never contradict Scripture and He will always want to bring glory to Christ.
