Read: Psalm 91
When crime and burglary are high in these days, people resort to high tech surveillance systems to protect their houses. In spite of the high end technologies, people get robbed. Some people take great pride in building elegant houses with high walls and fences and having security guards to protect their homes. Little do they know that unless God takes care of their homes, their labour is in vain. “Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain” (Ps. 127:1). God guards and protects His children from all kinds of danger. Lot chose to pitch his tent in Sodom and Gomorrah because it was well–watered (Gen. 13:10), but the men of the city were exceedingly sinful and wicked against God (Gen. 13:13). God chose to destroy this city, but protected Lot and his family by sending two angels to inform them and rescue them before God destroyed the city.
The Bible assures believers “Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways” (Ps. 91:9-11).
If you put God as your Refuge and Rock, He will make you abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings and in quiet resting places (Isa. 32:18). If you abide by God’s commandments, He will bless you and your habitation from all evil and pestilence. Your city, country, storehouses, livestock, offspring, food, and produce will be blessed if you humbly obey God’s commands (Deut. 28:2-8).
