DEUTERONOMY 4:7 “For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him?” (NKJV)
Here the nation of Israel is reminded about her special relationship with God. No other nation on earth enjoyed such a relationship with the creator God like Israel did; God was deeply concerned about her and would always listen to her calling out to Him. That’s why we see that even when Israel prostituted with other gods but when they got into trouble and called out to God, He would always deliver them, there was not once that He washed His hands off them, He always watched over them and was just a shout away.
That was how our God behaved with His people, but, we today are not just His people but we are His children. He is much closer to us than He was with Israel. He lived among Israel in the tabernacle and in the Holy of Holies but He now doesn’t just live among us but lives in us. We are the temple of God, Jesus is closer to each of us than we can ever imagine. He is with us at all times, He is with us in every step of life that we take, He is with us in the valleys and mountains of life. Since, He is always so close to us, He is the only one who really knows our every fear, He is the only one who really sees our every tear, He is the only one who really knows how we feel. He is so close to us and loves us so dearly that He will cast away every fear, wipe away every tear and restore joy and peace into our lives.
