Isaiah 42:13 – “I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.”
God has always promised His people that He would never leave nor forsake His people. He goes ahead of us and levels the crooked places and makes it easy for us to pass through (Isa. 42:13). Imagine going for a journey without a map. Likewise, God is our compass, leading us beside still waters, restoring our soul and leading us in the right path (Ps. 23:2-3). Abraham was clueless about his journey. God promised to show him the land where he and his descendants would live. When the Israelites were moving through the wilderness, God went before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light that they might travel by day and night (Ex. 3:21). In our life’s journey, when we have tough choices to make, allow God to go before you to help you succeed in your life.
In order to inhabit the Promised Land, the Israelites had to fight many battles with the local inhabitants. God went before them as a consuming fire to destroy and bring down their enemies (Deut. 9:3). If you are in a situation where you are feeling helpless and clueless regarding your future, do not worry. Our God will always go before you to prepare a way for you. He will remove all the hurdles and make the crooked paths straight for you. When the poor and needy seek water, God hears them and will not forsake them (Isa. 41:17). Our God is our Shepherd, going ahead of us with His rod and staff comforting us through the dark valleys (Ps. 23). Are we following the Great Shepherd or deviating from His chosen path?
