Read: Prov. 3:1-18
Every college or university conducts convocation ceremonies to celebrate the success of the students who have earned their degrees. Those students are entering a world that will challenge them. Having just academic knowledge will not be sufficient. The important thing is wisely applying what they have learnt.
In Scripture, wisdom is seen as a treasure that is worth seeking. It is in fact better than riches (Prov. 3:13-18). It is from God and is found in Jesus, “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Col. 2:3). Wisdom is obtained from reading and applying Scripture to daily life. Jesus showed us the example in applying the knowledge when He was tempted (Luke 4:1-13). The truly wise person always tries to see life from God’s perspective and chooses to live according to God’s wisdom.
Prov. 24:13-14 says that wisdom is like the sweetness of honey on the tongue. Prov. 3:13 says, “Happy is the man who finds wisdom.” More than gold or silver or any treasures of this world, seek wisdom for it is priceless. A person is truly blessed if he seeks wisdom and lives by it.
