JOSHUA 2:9-11 and (Rahab) said to the men: “I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath. (NKJV)
Rahab had faith in God though she hadn’t seen the mighty deeds of God with her eyes. Not only did she have faith but she declared that faith. She declared to the spies that she believes that God is going to deliver the city of Jericho into their hands. She didn’t have a hidden faith but went public with her faith, though she had all excuses to keep her faith private. She could have said “I believe but I can’t voice out my faith because the people of my city can kill me for that” or “I believe but I can’t voice out my faith because that would hurt the sentiments of my people”…etc.
Faith is not something to be kept hidden under the bed, but faith has to be declared in words. Today, let me encourage us to be like Rahab and to boldly declare our faith in Son of God, Jesus Christ.
