Hebrews 4:7 New International Version (NIV)
God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:
“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.”
What will you do if you knew today was your last day to live on this earth? Many people will say that they would spend their last day on earth drinking, taking drugs, merrymaking, pursuing amorous relations, etc. A young lady once told, “I would like to spend my last evening in church, to be alone with God, to thank Him for a full and happy life.”
What will you do if you knew this was your last 24-hour period? If you are not a disciple of Christ, the wisest thing to do would be to trust Him to be your Lord and Saviour. If you are a Christian, you may need to take care of some unfinished programme that could affect your heavenly rewards. Is there someone you need to ask forgiveness or apologise to? Do you owe anyone money, a visit, or do you need to encourage someone? Do you have to yet witness to someone whom you love so much? If it is within your ability to act, now is the time to do it.
Of course, this is just an imagination. Still, it is good to think on these lines. Why not live and act as if this day is your last? It may be. Now is always the best time to do God’s Will, because you only have now as a sure thing. Invest your time wisely.
