Matthew 6:26 – Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
When we look at the birds around our house, they teach us a valuable lesson. Every morning, they will be chirping and singing. They will be getting ready to go to work, finding twigs for their nests and worms to chew on. They live a lifestyle that shows a trust in their Creator while they go about gathering the resources He makes available to them.
While the birds trust God day by day, they also work hard from dawn to dusk. Jesus says that it is God who provides for the birds, and that we His children are more valuable than them. As that famous philosopher, Anonymous, once said, “Pray as if everything depends on God, and then work as if everything depends on you.” Pray to the Lord. Share with Him your worries and concerns. And then work hard like the birds. They just don’t have time to worry. Neither do we when we trust God and work hard. What can you do differently to show more trust in your Creator? In what areas of life can you worry less and work harder?
