Proverbs 9:10 – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
We are living in the information age. In the last few decades, the power of a personal computer has increased 1,00,000 times while its price per unit has decreased 10,000 times. At the heart of this technological breakthrough is the microprocessor that can count, memorise, respond to instructions, crunch numbers, do simulations, etc. All these are possible because of the instructions programmed into it. While many view this as man’s progress and the ability to control things, some fear that this technology may dehumanise humans. With every advancement in science, there is a potential to undermine all the good it can produce.
The most amazing and complex computer of all, the human brain, has the ability to invent machines capable of great good and great evil. Nevertheless, the brain needs programming to work effectively. Our brains must be programmed by the Word of God and our wills controlled by the Holy Spirit. This begins by acknowledging and repenting of our sin and trusting Christ as our Lord and Saviour. The Word of God must permeate our being daily so as to purify, cleanse, and fill us.
As Christians, let us make sure our minds are being daily programmed and filled with the right information – the truth of the Word of God. Accepting that truth and putting it into practice will keep us in the right course and provide us with the wisdom to handle life’s issues.
