JUDGES 14:1-3 “Samson went down to Timnah and saw there a young Philistine woman. When he returned, he said to his father and mother, “I have seen a Philistine woman in Timnah; now get her for me as my wife.”His father and mother replied, “Isn’t there an acceptable woman among your relatives or among all our people? Must you go to the uncircumcised Philistines to get a wife?” But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me. She’s the right one for me.” (NIV)
One of the attitudes that caused Samson to fall into the pit was an attitude of lust. In other words it was an “I want it attitude”. I want it no matter what the consequences, I want what I want, I want it not matter how forbidden it is.
Samson told his father “I want that girl from Timnah, go get her for me”, he being an Israelite was forbidden to marry a gentile. Samson didn’t bother about what his parents wanted, he didn’t bother about what God wanted, and he just wanted the woman he lusted for.
Some of us are like Samson, we just want what we want, even if that is not meant for us. Everything is not for every one of us, what is meant for me is not meant for you and what is meant for you is not meant for me.
God has given each of us all what we need to achieve His plans for our lives, don’t run after that which we don’t need, don’t lust after that which is not meant for us.
