JUDGES 16:19-20 “Delilah lulled Samson to sleep with his head in her lap, and then she called in a man to shave off the seven locks of his hair. In this way she began to bring him down, and his strength left him. Then she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” When he woke up, he thought, “I will do as before and shake myself free.” But he didn’t realize the Lord had left him.” (NLT)
Another attitude that caused Samson to fall was the attitude of pride, in other words it is the “I can handle it” attitude. Samson got so used to his God given strength that he began to forget that his strength was not from him but was from God Himself.
He showed contempt to his nazarite vows when he told Delilah on how he could be subdued when razor is used on his head and his head shaved. He thought that he could handle it and just fight away the Philistines to victory even after his head was shaved and after the power of God departed from him.
Sometimes we get so used to the blessings of God that we start to think that the blessings originate from within us, we forget to realise that God is the source of all blessings. Today, let me remind us to take pride in God and not our blessings, take pride in God and not what we have achieved, take pride in God and not our spirituality and let us also understand that we can’t handle it but only God can handle every aspect of our life.
