Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
It is easy for people to think that they can get away with sin. Sometimes it might appear that evil people are not punished for their actions. The Bible clearly says that “Be not deceived, God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man sows, so shall he reap” (Gal. 6:7). Satan tempts people to believe that it is alright to get away with sin. It is just like certain deceiving billboards that display unhealthy burgers and foods without explaining the consequences of consuming unhealthy food, which results in obesity and high blood pressure. Likewise, sin can consume a person without them realizing how deep they have fallen into it.
God forbade Adam and Eve to eat from the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Both of them disobeyed God as Satan tricked them to believe that they would not die as God had told them. Their disobedience had led to the following consequences:
- They realised that they were naked (Gen. 3:10).
- They became very afraid (Gen. 3:10).
- They had to face physical pain, agony and death (Gen. 3:16-19).
- They were able to know good and evil (Gen. 3:22).
- They were cast out from the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3:24).
Are you very careful to avoid sin in your daily life? Do your thoughts, speech and actions please God? The Bible clearly says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Pet. 5:8). Let us be careful of the consequence of sin and glorify our Heavenly Father by our actions.
