Romans 10:17 – So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
The Word of God is very clear on how faith is developed within a man’s heart. It is through the reading/hearing of God’s Word. Merely seeing miraculous events or healings or deliverances do not produce the faith leading to salvation. Why would Bible reading alone produce faith? We can hardly claim God’s promises for ourselves until we know what He has promised. How can that happen unless we read God’s Word? The Bible records true events of God’s dealings with men and women quite like us. It mentions who the holy God is, what He is like, what we can expect from Him, and what He requires of us.
How much time do you spend each day reading His Word? Are you too busy with other things that you miss out on the time to read the Bible? What is more important to you? Can you say like the psalmist in Ps. 143:8, “Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You.” Are there some habits you need to change?
