Read: 2 Timothy 3:13-17
C. S. Lewis has said that religious concepts are like soups – some are thick and some are clear. There are in fact “thick” concepts in the Bible: mysteries, intricacies, and complexities that challenge the most accomplished mind. For example, “God has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens” (Rom. 9:18). Yet there are thoughts that are crystal ‘clear’: simple, attainable, and easily grasped. What could be more clear than the clear affirmation in 1 John 4:16, “God is love”?
The Bible is all sufficient for our faith and spiritual nourishment. 2 Tim. 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” There need not be any other resource or handbook other than the Bible to refer to as the source for our spiritual food.
All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are found in God’s Word, the Bible. Some may be ‘deep’ that can stir the most sophisticated mind, and some may be ‘shallow’ that can be negotiated by any simple and honest soul.
Be assured that all what God needs to say to you is in His Word. And He wants to speak to you through His Word. Take time to listen to Him.
