2 Timothy 3:16 – “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Many people around the world read portions of the Bible and believe that all Scripture is given by the inspiration of God and has words of wisdom for our day to day life. It is the most printed book in the history of the world and was the first book to be printed. The Bible was written over a period of approximately 1500 years by over 40 authors from different professional backgrounds. This book has been sifted and thoroughly studied, cursed, praised, restricted, banned, desecrated, burnt, and fought over for its contents. Many people have been tortured for possessing the Bible and for their faith.
Above all, the Bible contains the life changing message of Jesus, the Son of God. The Old Testament points to His coming and the New Testament testifies to His teachings and Second Coming on earth. The last 24 hours of Jesus’ life were depicted in 29 specific Old Testament prophecies that were fulfilled. These amazing predictions came through different people over the course of 5 centuries from 1000 BC to 500 BC prior to Jesus’ birth. Mathematicians have calculated the odds of fulfilling only 8 prophecies to be one in 1017. More than 300 prophecies were fulfilled in Jesus. The aspect of prophecy and fulfillment shows the divine inspiration of the Bible.
The psalmist says that the law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right and righteous all together. The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes (Ps. 19:7-9). By reading God’s Word with an open mind and heart, and meditating on it, we will be blessed. It will heal our wounds and restore our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Paul the apostle said, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom. 10:17). Are you reading God’s Word daily? Is God speaking to you through His Word?
