Psalm 40:2 – “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”
David give thanks to Yahweh God for lifting him from dangerous and horrible situations that happened in his life and giving him a firm foundation on a rock. Is God our Rock, our firm foundation where we can stay securely without wavering? The wise man built his house on the rock, whereas, the foolish man built his house upon the sand (Matt. 7:24-27). If we are building our house on the Rock of Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 10:4), we do not have to fear anything.
We can rely on Jesus Christ the Rock because:
- This Rock is stable.
Heb. 13:8 – “Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever.”
- This Rock gives us strength.
Ps. 62:7 – “In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge is in God.”
- This Rock gives us safety.
Ps. 62:2 – “He only is my rock and salvation, He is my defence and I shall not be greatly moved.”
Ps. 94:22 – “But the Lord is my defence and the God is my rock of refuge.”
- The Rock we can stand on.
Ps. 40:2 – “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”
- The Rock of supply.
Deut. 32:13 – “He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and He made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock.”
- The Rock of satisfaction.
Is. 32:2 – “And a man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.”
Even though you are encountering challenging situations every day, be assured that Jesus Christ our Rock is with you to give you strength, stability and safety in all situations. Trust in Him with all your heart, and He will direct your paths. He will
