Psalm 55:22 – “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”
Sometimes Christians face doubt and despair after they have accepted Christ as their personal Saviour. The devil plants doubt in the believer whether they have made the right choice. Sometimes physical and psychological stress can cause servants of God to undergo depression after a revival ministry. God trained Moses 40 years in the wilderness to lead the Israelites from Egypt to their Promised Land. God used Moses to deliver the Israelites, by sending 10 plagues in the land of Egypt and after that crossing the Red Sea. After being victorious, Moses had to face the murmuring and complaints of the Israelites, that it made him tired. Moses said, “I am not able to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me” (Num. 11:14). Every time God helped Moses to lead those people.
Elijah had to run away from Jezebel as she swore to kill him for killing 450 Baal prophets at Mount Carmel. Elijah succeeded in doing God’s Will, but fear conquered him after that. Elijah prayed that he might die (1 Kings 19:4). He was tired of running. God provided Elijah with food and shelter, and then sent him on another mission.
After being baptized, Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to be tempted by the devil. During His stay in the wilderness, Jesus fasted and prayed for the greater ministry that He had to undertake. He was tired, hungry, and exhausted as the devil tried to torment Him. Jesus was able to overcome the temptations (Matt. 4:1-10). After the devil left Jesus, angels came and attended to Him (Matt. 4:11)
Jesus understands every situation that you undergo if you are His disciple. He faced similar situations. Cast your burden unto the Lord and He will sustain you. Be assured that He will never let the righteous be moved (Ps. 55:22).
