Romans 8:1 – There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
No condemnation? To those who are in Christ Jesus? What a great relief. Human nature is full of condemnation. We may still remember our old sinful ways and lifestyle and condemn ourselves for all our wrongdoings. But God does not condemn us. Ps. 103:12 says, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Again in Isa. 43:25, it says, “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins.” Truly amazing, isn’t it? The Bible declares that when God forgives, He forgives completely, and doesn’t keep a record of our past sins. And there is no condemnation to anyone who is in Christ Jesus.
It is naturally expected that such people should not walk according to the desires of the flesh. They shouldn’t be going around fulfilling every fleshly desire that they have. Instead they should be walking according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. They should be fulfilling what God wants of them as godly children. Do you have the joy that you are not condemned because you are in Jesus? Thank the Lord for the full assurance of no condemnation. Are you occasionally walking according to the flesh and sinning against God? Can you ask forgiveness for not living the way you ought to? Ask the Lord to help you walk according to the guidance of the Spirit.
