LUKE 15:20-23 “So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.“The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet”. (NIV)
The father here in the parable of the prodigal son gives a wonderful illustration of the character of our Heavenly Father. Our Heavenly Father is not one who will hold a grudge against us when we turn away from Him and when we squander away all the blessings He gave us, but, He is one who waits expectantly for us to return to Him and the very second He sees us walking towards Him He will run to us, welcome us back with great joy and restore to us all what we lost.
Perhaps you have lost something recently, or you are frustrated that something has gone to waste due to a bad decision you made. I want to remind you today that our Heavenly Father does not see the finality of the loss or waste the way we do and is not angry with us for the loss we caused. When we run back to Him with our losses, He sees it as an opportunity to restore to us all what has been lost or wasted.
