Proverbs 3:9-10 – “Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.”
The Bible makes it very clear that we are to honour the Lord with the firstfruits of all of our increase. When we do that, our barns will be filled with plenty and our vats will overflow according to the above verse. This means we will have a surplus of everything in our life, we will have enough and more of what we need in our life.
Sadly, many do not want to give to the Lord and honour Him with their best. They may give grudgingly or hesitantly or even very less and not according to what they can give. 2 Cor. 9:6-8 says, “He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” Imagine the plans and purposes of God that could be advanced in this world if the Church would wake up to the blessings that come as a result of having the faith to give the firstfruits! We should give God the best, the firstfruits of our money, time, health, energy, resources, possessions, etc. so that God can bless us and use us for His glory.
