Romans 10:13 – “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
There is power in the name of the Lord. At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, in heaven, on the earth, and under the earth and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of the Father (Phil. 2:10-11). The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and are safe (Prov. 18:10). His name brings deliverance. Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be delivered (Joel 2:32). People started calling upon the name of the Lord during the time of Adam’s grandson Enosh (Gen. 4:26).
King David realised at a young age itself that there is deliverance in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth (Ps. 124:8). When David was a young lad, he had to fight with the Philistine Goliath. Prior to the battle, David said to Goliath, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear and with a shield; But I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel whom you have defied” (1 Sam. 17:45). God gave victory to David and helped him kill Goliath, the giant Philistine. When enemy nations surrounded David, he was able to destroy them by calling on Yahweh God (Ps. 118:10).
The name of the Lord brings healing and deliverance from sickness. James 5:14 says, “Is there any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over him anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.” Jesus assured His disciples that in His name, they will cast out demons (Mark 16:17). At the name of Jesus, demons left people who were possessed. The seventy-two disciples that returned back to Jesus after going for spreading the good news, returned with joy saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name” (Luke 10:17).
Are you in distress? There is always deliverance in the name of Jesus. Anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Rom. 10:13).
