1 Corinthians 9:16 – “For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!”
A firefighter’s duty is to save people’s lives from the fire. He may end up losing his own life, trying to save others. Likewise, every Christian who has experienced Jesus feels the duty of saving lost souls from the never quenching fire. Paul the apostle was a Pharisee from the tribe of Benjamin who practised the Law of Moses, who was a Hebrew of Hebrews and a persecutor of Christians. But he considered all the things that he gained as a loss because of Christ (Phil. 3:5-7). Paul felt great sorrow and unceasing anguish in his heart for Jewish people who rejected Christ (Rom. 9:2-3). In 1 Cor. 9:16, Paul says, “For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!”
Jesus Christ gave us the Great Commission to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every nation, baptizing people in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus has commanded us to teach the lost how to obey everything God has commanded us. It is our duty. Jesus has promised us that He will be with us, till the very end of the age (Matt. 28:18-20).
Do you have a burden for lost souls? Are you making an effort to share the gospel to your friends, family members, etc.? Does it hurt or feel painful when you are not sharing the gospel? Many missionaries and godly men have given up their lives for Jesus. They did not regard their lives precious, but were willing to work earnestly for their King. Are you willing to give up yourself and lay your life for your Redeemer Jesus?
